ABOUT ABOUT

Joseph Norris is one of a pair of musically gifted identical twins born and raised in St. Mary’s County.  Their ancestral lineage dates back to the early 17th century in the Tidewater region.  They began composing songs and performing in public during their high school years and have since advanced to many stages.

Joseph performed at Maryland’s 350th Anniversary celebration in 1984 at Historic St. Mary’s City.  The 20,000 in attendance included the Duke and Duchess of Kent.  He also performed with Pete Seeger in 1994 in Baltimore and the Phil Ochs Song Night at Capital College in Washington, D.C. that same year.  Both David and Joseph performed at the 2005 National Folklife Festival on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

The Wine Cottage is open from 12-6 pm daily. Tastings of Slack Wines are great fun and there is a limited lite fare menu available. Bring a picnic or stop by at St. Inigoes General Store on the way down and pick up one of the best sandwiches (go for the Reuben) you'll ever taste in your life --- with great Orzo, too.

Lunch or dinner nearby? Head to one of 3 great restaurants  (Spinnakers, Scheibles and Courtneys --- the latter is open every day sunup til 9pm) or pick up great Chinese food at Ridge Market.

Restrictions

You must be 21 years of age to be served alcohol at Slack Winery. In compliance with St. Mary's County laws, no alcohol can be brought on to the property but must be purchased on-site.
