Our latest addition to Slack Wine Club festivities: February’s Cattywampus Pairing Party. February is the month when we embark on pruning our most unruly vine, Barbera. We have only one word to describe the tangly mess that we encounter every year: Cattywampus.
On February 27th we’ll pay tribute to this vine by bringing in 6 Barberas from around the world and tasting even one of the long sold out Barbera from our first vintage. To commemorate the vines we find ourselves untangling, we’ll be showing off Barbera’s range with six different pairings, from blue cheese to blue fish to venison... to So MD’s best doughnuts (can you guess?). Barbera’s crisp acidity and deep cherry character does with ease what few grapes can do: compliment virtually any meal or stand on its own at cocktail hour with the best Bordeaux blends.
